Description
In the heart of Coonawarra lies the iconic 20-hectare Menzies Vineyard, its cigar-shaped strip of terra rossa soil resting over limestone marking it as one of the region's most storied sites. Planted in 1975, this vineyard has long been a proving ground for Yalumba's commitment to viticultural excellence, and the 1998 vintage stands as one of its finest achievements.
Harvested between April 6th and 15th, 1998, the grapes for this wine were meticulously selected to capture the very best of the season. The resulting Cabernet Sauvignon was matured for two years in seasoned French Allier barrels, crafted in Yalumba's own on-site cooperage — a process that lends the wine its refined structure and depth.
First released in October 2001, this single-vineyard Cabernet was built to reward patience, with a recommended cellaring window from 2005 to 2015 allowing it to develop even greater complexity over time. For collectors and connoisseurs, it offers a rare glimpse into the timeless elegance of Coonawarra winemaking.
