The Wilgha Vineyard is situated in the cooler southern end of the famed Coonawarra wine growing district. only the best grapes from this vineyard are selected to produce Wilgha Shira. Partial barrel fermentation, and maturation for two years in new American oad has enhanced the sweet spice and pepper flavours of the wine. Wilgha Shiraz is released only in years of excellence, and we recomment further cellaring.
Colour: Medium red with purple tinges. Will develop brick red colours with cellaring.
Aromas: Lifted finely ground white pepper and berry fruit characters with integrated chocolatey oak nuances.
Flavours: A soft and complex palate featuring spicy fruit and balancing cedary oak characters. The wine finishes with soft lingering tannins.
While the wine is delicious now it will evolve for 10 years or more in ideal cellar conditions, further integrating fruit and oak characters. Try with Peppered venison and pumpkin rosti or aged cheddar and blue cheeses.
