Description

Reservoir Wheat
When we first created our Wheat Whiskey, only two other American distillers were making this expression. Our first experience with wheat was while producing four-grain bourbon. It captured our senses and imagination, and we began to wonder what a pure Wheat Whiskey might taste like. With a 100% wheat mash bill, our Wheat Whiskey is the softest of our three expressions and unique to any other American style whiskey on the market. Locally sourced at Renwood Farm, our wheat produces a buttery, savory, and smooth spirit that has proven to be an excellent introductory whiskey for those not experienced in barrel-aged bourbons. Although lacking a Bourbon mash bill, we’ve deemed it our “Beginner Bourbon.”

Many are drawn to the smoothness of a wheated bourbon, and our expression is bottled at 100-proof/50%ABV so that you can proof the spirit down to your liking and taste. We recommend trying our Wheat Whiskey neat—to establish a baseline, then adding a touch of water or a single ice cube to temper the proof. We’re of the mindset that you should always play with your food.

TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Port, hint of oak, honey, and caramel notes
Palate: Velvet texture, sweet but not cloying (given the lack of corn), perfumed notes of rose petals
Finish: Orange peels, herbaceous, and honeyed with a long lasting mouth feel

Reservoir Bourbon
Our Bourbon is a one of a kind, 100% corn mash bill. While most bourbons have a rye component added to the bill for additional flavor, Reservoir trusts the full force of our local Charles City, Virginia corn, and the deep aging capacity of our small barrels to produce a bourbon that is unique to any other spirit available today.

This Bourbon is the most traditional of our house expressions. It boasts a beautiful midpoint balance of sweetness, lying somewhere between the soft signature of the Wheat and the sharp spice of the Rye. We feel it’s appealing to experienced whiskey hunters and the novice alike. If Mark Twain and Stewie Griffin sat side by side on barstools, this is what they would drink. Built to be bigger than the average Bourbon, our expression is bottled at 100-proof/50%ABV so that you can proof the spirit down to your potency preference.

TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Vanilla, chalk, corn, and toast
Palate: Char, pencil shavings, coffee, and pecan with a medium to full body
Finish: Tobacco leaf transitioning into a lingering sweet cherry finish

Reservoir Rye
We are proud to be one of the few distilleries to distill, age, and bottle our own Rye Whiskey. The most fractious and labor intense of the grains to work with, Rye cereal produces the least amount of alcohol and yet gives birth to the most complex of all our whiskies. Our first Double Gold-winning spirit, the Reservoir Rye, is what we call our “Adult Swim” whiskey. Bold and polished, it dominates the Wheat and Bourbon expressions. Experienced bourbon and scotch drinkers seeking something new will find our Reservoir Rye fully lives up to the challenge.

In the crowded world of “High Ryes” on the market, we are proud to offer the highest with a 100% rye mash bill. Sourced from just outside Richmond’s city limits in New Kent County, Virginia, our rye provides an intense, sharply spiced profile that is not too sweet. Our expression is bottled at 100-proof/50%ABV so that you can tinker with strength and discover your preference. We recommend trying our Rye Whiskey neat—to establish a baseline, then adding a touch of water or a single ice cube to soften the proof.
