For over 350 years, the Royal Navy issued a daily tot of rum to its sailors — a tradition stretching back to the days of Admiral Nelson himself. That rum was known as "Pusser's," a term derived from "Purser," the officer responsible for doling out the daily ration. When the Navy finally ended the tradition in 1970, the original recipe was preserved and, in 1979, released to the public so the rest of us could taste a piece of naval history.
